it means that you ...
it means that you take the line of the 45 degree angle and line it up to the seam of the strips you have sewn. I am left handed so I start to line up on the top of the strips I have sewn I think if you are right handed you line up at the bottom. Also the first cut looks pointed so dont be confused after that first cut it works out just fine. I hope this helps you. Mahalo

Great job, Natalie! ...
Great job, Natalie! This is a super way to use my fav J.R.s. I like to make quilts for donations to homes for kids and abused women. This is a great addition to my collection of quick but pretty quilt patterns. My quilt guild just added another needy group...homebound elderly..who often have nearly nothing. A lap or bed quilt will really give them somw warmth and love! Thanks, Marty

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! Don't pre-wash your jelly rolls, or any precut for that matter! It will be a ball of strings! I promise, the fabrics are so much better now, that prewashing is not an issue. (if you buy good quality fabric) Good luck, and have fun sewing!
