We'll try to help you through the process of writing and execution of the first program for the microcontroller as an example of using EasyAVR5A board. All you need to start work is there on the disk supplied. These are drivers, a program to work with a built-in programmer, main technical documentation and several versions of compilers. Install the drivers, then connect the board to the port USB. If a new device appears in the system it means the drivers have been installed correctly. If not, make sure that you have installed the drivers for your version of the operating system. Then install the software to work with the built-in programmer, in this case AVRflash. After installation you can see the status of the memory and the fuse of the microcontroller bits, download and view in the hexadecimal mode the program stored in the chip memory at the moment as well as download read-to-run firmware stored in the HEX-file. And in order to write your own programs and adjust them you will need a compiler. You can choose MicroC, MicroPascal or MicroBasic.
